Jacob Hicks, Vice President

Jacob Hicks ("Jake") was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy, Arkansas. His first experience living abroad occurred when he was awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship, allowing him to study as an exchange student in Zwickau, Saxony, Germany.

Jake joined the Arkansas National Guard in 2007, and transitioned to Active Duty service in 2010. During his time in the Army, he served as a Flight Instructor and Stardardizations Instructor on UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. He left the service in 2017 and returned home to Arkansas where he now works at Apptegy, an education technology start-up company located in Little Rock. He also attends the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he is pursuing a BA in History and a teaching certification. He has been awarded the Richard B. Dixon and the Denman Brothers Scholarships.

Jake moved to Broadmoor in 2017 and joined the Board of Directors in 2018, first serving as Vice President before being asked to take on the role of President. Highlights of his time with the Board of Directors include the nomination of Broadmoor to the National Register of Historic Places and the implementation of a new website and mobile application to help residents and property owners within the neighborhood stay informed, as well as to promote the neighborhood within Little Rock.

Outside of the BPOA, Jake has volunteered as a Master Gardener in Travis County, Texas, and Pulaski County, Arkansas, where he served as the Vice Chairman of the 4H Demonstration Garden located at the 4H complex in Little Rock.

Jake married the love of his life, Veronica, on February 18, 2020.

Jake has two dogs, Maedchen and Patti, and speaks both English and German. His interests include: history, politics, education and education policy, gardening, aviation, and firearms safety. You can send him an email at welovebroadmoor@gmail.com
